Abstract The conjoint analysis has reached an undisputable high significance within market research, especially in the context of concept and product testing. The increasing use of the method is proved and documented by a multiplicity of skilled publications and surveys among market research institutions and companies.Furthermore for the use of this method in the context of Internet surveys an increase can be noted. Although because of not existing standards, the proceeding is less "systematical" than in CAPI-surveys.Especially an online conjoint analysis requires a diligent scheduling, which considers the specialties of the medium (such as anonymous setting of the survey, dropout behavior of the users, technical equipment of the respondent) and consolidates the results of fundamental studies.We report the results of an empirical study on Internet users, in which different design versions of the survey module for staggered pair comparisons of an adaptive conjoint analysis within an online survey have been tested. The understanding of the exercise, the prevention of dropouts and the preference of the respondent in general have been the appraisal criterions of the design versions.Finally based on the results of this study and experiences of several cases of conjoint analyses, best practice recommendations for conjoint analyses within online surveys will be presented.
Abstract - optional Die Conjoint-Analyse hat in der Marktforschung insbesondere im Rahmen von Konzept- und Produkttests einen unumstritten hohen Stellenwert erreicht. Der zunehmende Einsatz der Methode ist durch eine Vielzahl von Fachpublikationen und Befragungen unter Marktforschungsinstituten und Unternehmen vielfach belegt und dokumentiert.Auch bei der Anwendung der Methode im Rahmen von Internetbefragungen ist ein Anstieg zu verzeichnen. Dabei ist das Vorgehen hier aufgrund fehlender Standards deutlich weniger "systematisch" als bei CAPI-Befragungen. Dabei bedarf gerade eine online durchgeführte Conjoint-Analyse einer sorgfältigen Planung, die Besonderheiten des Mediums (anonyme Befragungssituation, Abbruchverhalten der User, technische Ausstattung der Befragten) berücksichtigt und Ergebnisse aus Grundlagenstudien zusammenführt. Wir berichten die Ergebnisse einer empirischen Studie an Internetnutzern, in der verschiedene Gestaltungsvarianten des Befragungsmoduls für abgestufte Paarvergleiche einer adaptiven Conjoint-Analyse innerhalb einer Online-Umfrage getestet wurden. Beurteilungskriterien für die Gestaltungsvarianten waren u. a. das Verständnis der Urteilsaufgabe, Vermeidung des Abbruchwunsches sowie die allgemeine Präferenz des Befragten.Abschließend werden aus den Ergebnissen der Studie sowie Erfahrungen aus mehreren Anwendungsfällen von Online-Conjoint-Analysen Best-Practice-Emfehlungen für den Einsatz der Conjoint Analyse innerhalb von Online-Umfragen abgeleitet und vorgestellt.
